On March 14th 2009 at the Manning Bar, we are proud to present the first and hopefully annual MONSTER SESSION. This show is to raise money and awareness for MS Australia. This has been brought about by our brother in crime, Glen of Zombie Dog Entertainment. Glen lost his mother to the condition, and my wife, Jo from Blitz Babiez was diagnosed about 7 years ago. Therefore it is something that is close to our hearts

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease that randomly attacks the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). The progress, severity and specific symptoms of the disease cannot be predicted; symptoms may range from tingling and numbness to paralysis and blindness. MS is a devastating disease because people live with its unpredictable physical and emotional effects for the rest of their lives. This includes the loved ones and friends who support the person through the unpredictable times.

Monster Session is about raising money and awareness for MS as there is no known cure and this Monster spectacular is a rock ‘n’ roll night not to be missed, with all money raised going to MS Australia. Hitting the stage will be many inspirational and well respected bands from the last twenty years of the Sydney alternative / punk / hardcore music scene. Many of these bands have specially reformed for one show only for Monster Session.

They include The New Christs (with Rob Younger ex Radio Birdman) – pumping out high octane rock ‘n’ roll since the early 80’s. Celibate Rifles – Stalwarts of the local live music scene from the coast to the inner city and throughout the World. Rocks – One of Sydney ’s original punk rock bands. Respected throughout the world and still have the fire in their hearts and go off like cracker night. Also gracing the show are some of the stalwarts of the Sydney Punk/HC/Alternative scen of the 90s:Midget, Gilgamesh, Lawnsmell, Blitz Babiez, Terrible Virtue, Downtime, Crazy Legs Vermin, Crane No. 6, and This Thing.

Also available ONLY at the showwith proceeds going to MS Australia:

* Compilation CD of all the bands.
* Limited edition Posters and T-shirts.

(1975)Michael Schultz (CAR WASH, GREASED LIGHTNING) directs this refreshing coming-of-age picture, focusing on the lives of two 1964 Chicago high school seniors as they prepare for adulthood. Cochise (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) is a basketball star and Preach (Glynn Turman) is his scholarly best friend. Together, with their pals Willie, Pooter, and Tyrone, the boys spend their days running around the city, pulling off an endless string of harmless scams. But when they agree to go for a joyride in a car that Stone (Sherman Smith) and Robert (Norman Gibson) have stolen, their previously carefree existence takes a turn for the dramatic. About the film:

“At Rock 'n' Roll Camp, girls ranging in age from eight to 18 are taught
that it's OK to sweat like a pig, scream like a banshee, wail on their
instruments with complete and utter abandon, and that "it is 100% okay to
be exactly who you are." The girls have a week to select a band, an
instrument they may have never played before, and write a song. In
between, they are taught by indie rock chicks such as Carrie Brownstein
from Sleater-Kinney various lessons of empowerment from self-defense to
anger management. At the end of the week, all the bands perform a concert
for over 700 people. The film follows several campers: Laura, a Korean
adoptee obsessed by death metal; Misty, who is emerging from a life of
